Someone stole my bank card info and spent $780 at blizzard.com on online Warcraft games and $70 more on domain registration.... I've disputed it with my bank/Visa and they have a put a provisional credit back in my account until it is proved I did not make the charges. Now if the hacker had all my info (address/phone, which I assume they have with my card info b/c I purchase stuff online all the time so that info is there) so if they ordered these game credits with my card and address for something online (not shipped anywhere) how can they prove I didnt make the charges???

I am just afraid they will say "it looks like you made the charges" and take the money back out of my account...

Did they put you in contact with their fraud department? I had this happen years ago- they did catalog stuff and were stupid enough to ship it to their home address. Of course the cc company won't give you the address it went to cuz they don't want you to retaliate. they sent me a form to fill out basically saying I didn't charge goods, asked if I had card in my possession, etc. GOOD LUCK and close the account out!!! And watch any others you may have used online

:( Do you know for sure that the accounts and domain were registered in your name, address and/or phone number? The bank should be able to trace the activity and find out it was not you. As long as you called the bank as soon as you found out about the charges you should be ok.

Here is a few place to read for more info...

About 7 years ago, I got a call from my Master Card company asking me if 2 days prior I was in France at the restaurant and paid $2200 for a nice meal. I almost chocked on my $3.99 Subway sandwich. As Chooch pointed out, I had to fill out a form saying that was not me and the fraud department took care of it an no cost to me at all. And, I didn't have any special "fraud protection plan" on the card. Most VISA and Master Card cards would cover you without any questions for some amount of money. I think, but not sure, ~5K.

So, bottom line...take a deep breath and don't worry, but watch for all the new charges.

Seems like all they have to do is find out where the games where shipped
and thats proof you didnt order them and would also catch the crooks......
(or is there some stupid law against doing that?)

What card was it.

Bank of America Visa has a 100% protection for this. Submit a claim & wait, this can take 60-90 days.

Happened to me too. I guess I went to some deal forum & read about some deal that was cheap & put in my personal data & it was a scam site eventually. If something is $2-3 Im not going to buy it online & give out my personal data now. I might if its a trusted store.

In my IRC days, credit card numbers complete with names, addresses, and expiration dates, floated as if it's normal. They go really fast. It must be faster these days. (No, I never used any of them, if you asked).

In my experience, Citibank has been good in catching this. I've had several times when my cc was breached and they called right after the first suspicious transaction. And they took care everything. The downside, everytime I go overseas, I have to call and let them know, otherwise, they'll likely block your account after first purchase.

I wouldn't worry too much if it's only cc numbers that get stolen. If it's your ssn, then it's a different story. Since you just bought a house (if I remember correctly), you need to be more careful because your address is usually published in county recorder.

they bought online credits to use online, nothing shipped

Also, they put a provisional credit back into my account, so i have the money back, but they can pull it out if they cant find out it wasnt me. so now I wait....
